Going brakeless safely
Skill level 1 of 4 · Home basics Maintain Easy 5 min Brakeless
Many street and park riders remove brakes entirely and slow down with their feet on the tire. Brake mounts are removed or capped. Riders control speed by pressing a foot against the rear tire (or a freecoaster/foot jam). Check local laws: most places require a working brake on public roads.

Steps
Check the law where you ride: a brake is usually required on public roads. Practice foot-jamming the rear tire at walking speed before riding fast. Keep a U-brake setup for street riding; take it off only for the park if you want.
