How we pick

RideLoadout recommends parts and tools by what fits your bike and what is worth the money, not by who pays us. Here is exactly how.

Does it fit your bike?

Every part is checked against your bike's specs: wheel and tire size, frame clearance, gearing and speeds, brake type, axle and mount standards, bar and seatpost sizes. Each part lands in one group: fits as-is, fits with small changes (a cheap adapter or shim), fits with major changes (other parts to buy), or won't fit. When a spec is unknown we ask you one quick question instead of guessing, and estimated specs are labelled so you can measure them.

Good, Better, Best

For each area of the bike (tires, brakes, gearing, saddle and so on) we show three parts that fit, from the budget choice up. Each one says what you get over the one below it: weight, grip, flat protection, stopping power, gear range or comfort.

Our pick

Our pick starts with the cheapest option that does the job and steps up only when the next one costs a little more for a real gain, or the gain for the money is clearly worth it for how you ride. If the bigger upgrades would cost close to a better bike, we say so.

Tools

Tools also come in Good, Better and Best. Our pick weighs the price against the quality and how often you will use the tool: the solid cheaper one for jobs you do a few times a year, a better one for tools you use every week, and never the flimsy one where precision matters for safety (torque wrenches, pressure gauges, chain tools, bleed kits). You can always choose a different option.

Prices

Prices are typical US prices we checked by hand (last checked October 2026). They change often, so check the price at the store before you buy.

Store links and money

Some store links may earn RideLoadout a small commission at no cost to you. Commissions never change which parts we say fit your bike or which option we pick, and no brand pays to be listed.

Rider reports

Fit reports and photos from other riders are reviewed before they appear and are shown as their experience, not a guarantee. They never change the fit check on their own; we update the checks only after looking into a report.
