woom GO 3: specs, upgrades and what fits

A very light 16-inch kids' bike with an aluminum frame and fork, two kid-size mini V-brakes (no coaster brake) and a single-speed drive with an 18T ring and 10T rear sprocket. It replaced the ORIGINAL 3 in the US, adding a new saddle, ABC fit marks on the stem and seatpost, lock-on grips, a one-sided chainguard and a pre-installed LEGGIE kickstand. Best for: Kids about 4 to 6 years old learning to pedal.

My take, from the specs

For kids around 4 to 6 who are ready to pedal, especially on their first pedal bike. It is very light at about 13 lb and stops with two easy-pull hand brakes instead of a coaster brake. The weak spot is the single gear, which makes starts on hills slow, and the 1.4-inch tires are meant for pavement and packed paths.

Upgrade limits

How far each part can go on this frame, and why. Measure your own bike to confirm the estimated ones.

PartLimitWhy
Widest tire (current wheel size)35 mmUnknown until measured. Your 21 mm internal rims suit roughly 31–55 mm tires.
TubelessNot recommendedTubeless needs a rim built to seal (bead hook + channel) and tubeless-ready tires.
Valve typeSchraderDecides which tubes and pump heads fit. Presta tubes fit Schrader rims with a grommet; not the other way.
Replacement wheelsBolt-on · ?/? mmAny wheel matching axle type, spacing and brake mount fits. Rear also needs the right freehub.
Brake pads (rim)Threaded-post pads (V-brake / U-brake)Rim brake pads are sorted by how they mount, which depends on the brake: threaded post with a nut (V-brakes, U-brakes), smooth post in an eye bolt (cantilevers), road cartridges (dual-pivot calipers) or short threaded pads (side-pull calipers). Any compound…
Front gears1x (18T)One ring, no front derailleur. Adding a front derailleur needs a mount on the seat tube and a 2x crankset, so most riders change the ring size or cassette instead.
Chainring sizeUnknown (now 18T)Estimated from similar frames. Measure the chainring-to-chainstay gap to confirm. Check whether your ring is bolted or riveted. Spindle length (? mm) sets chainline; a big change in ring size may need a different BB spindle.
Gear count upgradesSingle speedOne cog and no derailleur. To change the gearing, swap the sprocket or the rear driver/cog (more teeth on the cog = easier pedaling).
Cranks & bottom bracketSquare taper · 68 mm shell · ? mm spindleAny square-taper crankset fits with the right spindle length. Upgrading to Hollowtech II needs a new BB (same threaded shell).
Pedal thread9/16" × 20Every adult multi-piece crank uses 9/16". One-piece kids/cruiser cranks use 1/2".
Stems & bars1 steerer · ? mm bar clampAny stem for a 1 steerer with a 31.8 mm clamp fits. You can cut a bar narrower but not wider.
Drop-bar conversionPossible with modsNeeds road brake/shift levers (microSHIFT R8 makes 8-speed ones that pull Shimano 8-speed cable correctly), a drop bar, tape, and road-pull brake calipers because road levers pull less cable. Usually $250+.
Seatposts? mmBuy posts in exactly this diameter.
Racks, fenders, bottlesNo rack · Fender ✓ · 0 bottleThreaded eyelets at the dropouts and seat stays take a rack and fenders. Fork leg mounts take cargo cages.
Max load (rider + cargo)132 lbWheels are usually the weak point under heavy loads. Stay under this with rider plus luggage.
